Read a classic study through nine lenses

Study guides for Paradigms and Perspectives in Psychology (MSc, level 600). Each guide starts from zero and explains what the researchers did and why. Then it reads the same study through all nine perspectives in your course outline, so you can see how one piece of research looks different from each side.

Nine overlapping circles, one for each perspective, all covering a shared centre that stands for the study.

Each circle is one perspective. They all cover the centre, the study itself, but each one colours it differently.

Every guide follows your journal outline

The pages are grouped by the sections of the Reflective Learning Journey. Work through them in order, or jump to the section you are writing.

  1. Understanding the study

Citation, the study (summary, participants, method, findings) and its importance.

  2. Paradigm analysis

The main perspective and the assumptions behind the research.

  3. Looking through other lenses

How each of the nine perspectives would read the study.

  4. Cultural and decolonial reflection

A Global South and Indian reading, and questions of power and representation.

  5. Research design critique

The research design, its strengths and its limitations.

  6. Stakeholder redesign

How different people would redesign the study, and why.

  7. Learning journey reflection

What challenged you, what changed, what questions remain. You write this part.

Sections C and F go further than the outline asks. The outline says "complete at least three" lenses and "choose two" stakeholders. The guides cover all nine lenses and all seven stakeholders, so you can compare them and choose well.
